Girl with earrings
wooden birds
from South America or China
walks down the street
tiny, sad face
eyes penetrate nothing
Her mother is in a
hurry
her lips are thin.

We don’t know each other
but I meet her
every day.

Girl with wooden birds
swinging between the steps,
long black skirt
walks down the street.

Her mother says:
-Hurry up!
We’ll be late!
They’re going to the hospital.

The girl is found dead-
the newspaper said.
On some stairs... birds try to fly.
On a photo
serious tiny face,
wooden birds.
